Turks and Caicos is an ideal setting for relaxing in the sand. The islands are warm and sunny most of the year, and a minimal amount of annual rainfall ensures it's almost always a great day for the beach.
The climate in Turks and Caicos is described best as desert tropical. This means that the weather is arid, warm, and lacking significant annual rainfall. Fittingly, these islands average 350 sunny days per year, and the easternmost islands get the least rain amount of rain. As a whole, the islands average about 23.8 inches of rain each year, only 21 inches of which falls on Grand Turk and South Caicos. With such abundant sunshine, be sure to protect yourself from harmful rays with sunblock, light, layered clothing, and hats.
...tradewinds keep things cool...
The high tourist season in Turks and Caicos runs from December through April. Most people choose to visit during this time to get away from the cold weather they are experiencing back home in more northern areas. Temperatures in Turks and Caicos during the high season average between 80 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit, and rainfall averages at about 1.7 inches, with December being the wettest month of this period.
The tourist low season, May through November, still experiences pleasant weather, so visitors shouldn't be deterred from visiting during these months. True, temperatures are higher, ranging from the high 80s to low 90s, but the tradewinds keep things cool, and sea water remains approximately 5 degrees cooler than the temperature. This means that the water is never shockingly cold, and a dip in the water during this time of year is quite pleasant.
Hurricane season also coincides with the low season, and has the islands on the lookout for storms from June through November. However, these storms are not generally a problem. The Caribbean region is larger than it seems, and storms rarely hit any of the islands directly. They are more likely to be brushed by outer bands of the storm. Advances in meteorological technology make predicting the threat of a hurricane a much more exact science than it has been in the past. This means that you will know before you even leave for your trip is there is danger of a hurricane hitting. If a hurricane struck the island just before your visit, make sure to call your hotel and everywhere that you made reservations to ensure that they are still open for business.
