Driving in Turks and Caicos

The driving rules you'll encounter in the Turks and Caicos Islands may be somewhat different

Driving in the Turks and Caicos is in the British style, but the roads themselves are very Caribbean.

On Providenciales, the newly constructed highway system is a smooth drive, but the older roads are not always in good condition, and may be bumpy or hard to drive on. Meanwhile, roads on the other islands tend to be in much better condition.

Remember to drive on the left-hand side of the road, this is especially important if you are from the United States or another country that drives on the right. Also keep in mind that those entering a roundabout must be given right of way, and the use of seat belts is enforced. The islands' maximum speed is 40 mph, and in towns the speed limit drops to 20 mph.

When driving in the Turks and Caicos, use caution over bumpy, older roads and watch your speed as you adapt to a new way of driving.
