Getting around town will be easy in most cases, no matter what method you choose. However, on Providenciales you have a choice unavailable on many other islands: local bus service. On Provo, travelers can ride on The Gecko, a scheduled tourist bus service traveling between the Grace Bay and Turtle Cove areas. This service offers relatively inexpensive passes and stops at many important locations. Rates are currently $4(USD) per token and $11(USD) per day for a single adult. Family and children rates are available. Reduced prices are available for longer-term passes, such as $55(USD) for a two-week adult pass. There is also a public"jitney" bus service on the island. Prices on these buses are not regulated and are determined solely by the driver. To catch one of these buses, you must flag it down along the road. The other islands of the Turks and Caicos do not offer any known bus services, so be sure to take advantage of them on Providenciales. Related Articles
